GRAFTON—While other programs are still practicing and getting ready for their respective seasons to begin, the Grafton High School golf team has now completed the first third of their schedule, competing at the Cacapon Golf Classic in Berkeley Springs on Thursday.
Bearcats senior Chris Miller finished in a three-way tie for first place in the event with an excellent round of 75, leading the Bearcats to an eighth-place finish overall and a fifth-place finish among AA schools. Also making the long trip for Grafton and playing well were Frankie Spring (101), Dustin Keener (104), Mia Chambers (111), Aiden Sheme (115), and Brayden Palmer (121).
Keyser won the event with a team score of 329, followed by Washington (333), Jefferson (342), Berkeley Springs (353), North Marion (355), Martinsburg (357), Fairmont Senior (374), Grafton (391), Spring Mills (416), Frankfort (436), and Hedgesville (456).
The Bearcats will be back in action on Monday as they travel to the Fairmont Field Club for a quad match which will include Fairmont Senior, Lincoln, and Lewis County.
Their next home match won’t be until Thursday, September 10th, when they host North Marion, Preston, and Bridgeport in a quad match at Tygart Lake Public Golf Course in Knottsville.
