FAIRMONT – The Grafton 9-10 All-stars opened play last Saturday night against a very solid team from Wesmon (Morgantown).
The Grafton all-stars gave it all they had, but it was not enough. The team from Wesmon scored 10 runs in the first inning, then never looked back and cruised to a 25—0 win in three innings.
The Grafton team could only manage one hit in the contest, as Mason Gray singled in the third inning but was then stranded on second base when the inning ended.
Kaden Tate was the starting pitcher for Grafton.
The second game for the Grafton team took place at Mary Lou Retton Park, as they faced a powerful team from the Fairmont Little League.
Once again, the Grafton stars gave up numerous runs in the first inning as Fairmont ended the game after four innings 12—0.
The Fairmont pitchers held the Grafton kids hitless in the contest. The lone base runner for Grafton was Greyson Ramizan who walked in the fourth inning. The Fairmont team recorded 10 strikeouts out of a possible 13 Grafton hitters.
Ramizan was also the starting pitcher for Grafton.
The Grafton All-star roster consisted of Mason Grey, Greyson Ramizan, Kaden Tate, Troy Weber, Owen Nestor, Patrick Foley, Kinsey Shriver, Charlie Halfin, Christian Cox, Jonathan Matheny, Aaron Shriver, Riley Humphries and Bryce Isner.
With the loss to Fairmont the Grafton All-star season will come to an end after two games.
The Grafton 12U All-star team will begin play this Sunday as they will host Fairmont at 6:30 at Anna Jarvis. Last season the Fairmont all-stars advanced to the WV state tournament.
