Grab your clubs and head to TLPGC for a memorial golf tournament

TAYLOR COUNTY—The rolling hills and plush greens will be welcoming golfers to Tygart Lake Public Golf Course (TLPGC), in an event set to give back to the youth of the county.

Join the Boyles family for their annual Mandy Boyles Memorial Golf Tournament on Saturday, June 19. Tee off time is set for 9:00 a.m., with registration occurring from 8:00-8:30 a.m.

Four-man teams may join in on the fun, enjoying a day of golf on the greens of TLPGC for a good cause. The cost per team is $200, which includes the registration fee and lunch.

Golfers should come ready to compete, as organizers are offering cash prizes for first, second and third place teams.

Teams who secure the longest drive, longest putt or land their golf balls closest to the pin will also receive awards.

During the event, individuals can take part in 50/50 drawings, Mulligans and raffles.

Teams may pre-register for the event by calling the TLPGC Clubhouse at 304-265-3100. Participants may also call 304-612-5760 to be added to the list.

According to organizers, there are already quite a few teams who have registered.

“We already have approximately 16 to 17 teams signed up for this year’s event,” said Lucas Ware. “We will have spots for about seven to ten more teams.”

With limited spots available, golfers are encouraged to form their teams and place their calls to take part.

For those who would like to help with the event but haven’t mastered the fine art of golfing, hole sponsorships are available. For just $100, individuals, clubs, organizations or businesses can sponsor a hole during the event.

The aforementioned phone numbers may be called for those wishing to sponsor a hole.

All proceeds of this year’s event will be donated to the Taylor County Youth Soccer League, in memory of Amanda Marie “Mandy” Boyles, whose life was tragically cut short following an auto accident when she was just 17-years old.

“We hope that individuals will join us for this annual event that helps to honor Mandy’s memory while benefiting the youths of the county,” said Ware.
