Grab your baskets and head to Tygart Lake for annual egg hunt

TAYLOR COUNTY—Easter will soon be upon us, and that means that families are gearing up for the seasonal fun that comes along with it. To help celebrate the springtime holiday, the Tygart Lake State Park Foundation will be hosting a fun, family friendly event.

Join the foundation on Sunday, April 10 for their annual Easter Egg Hunt, as it makes its return to Taylor County’s scenic treasure among the hills, Tygart Lake State Park.

Bring your baskets and get ready for an afternoon of hunting for brightly colored eggs, containing surprises for all who attend.

The hunt is slated to kick off at 2:00 p.m., at the Nature Center/Park Office, so be sure to get there early to see if you can spot the hidden treasures.

“This is just another fun and exciting event in our lineup this year, aimed at helping to get folks out into the park,” said a Tygart Lake State Park Foundation representative. “We have such an amazing state park, filled with lots of exciting things for individuals to do, so we strive to not only promote that but to help keep services up and running.”

Chartered January 13, 1999, Tygart Lake State Park Foundation’s purpose is to aid, strengthen, enhance and support in appropriate ways the services of Tygart Lake State Park.

The foundation’s goals are to promote and improve facilities, augment current offerings, provide additional attractions and assist park personnel and visitors in the future development of the park.

This small, but fierce organization has provided the park with countless volunteer hours and upgraded park facilities through annual events and fundraisers.

The foundation is always looking to expand their membership and would like to welcome anyone who is interested in the betterment of Tygart Lake State Park to attend one of their meetings.

Their next meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 26, at the Tygart Lake Lodge, beginning at 6:00 p.m.

“For those interested, plan to attend as we look forward to the 2022 season,” voiced the foundation representative. “Everyone is welcome!”
