GHS volleyball opens with East Fairmont


FAIRMONT – The Grafton High School volleyball team opened its 2017 season last Wednesday night, as they traveled to Fairmont to battle with the East Fairmont Bees. The girls battled all night but in the end lost the match 3 sets to 1.

The Bees took the first set 14-25 and the second set 16-25, but the Bearcats rallied in the third set and won 25 to 14. The Cats then dropped the final set 25-28.

The top server for the Lady Cats was Brianna Farnswoth with 11 points, followed by Hannah Taylor with six kills.

Taylor and Morgan Harrison had an outstanding evening on defense recording five blocks apiece.

The girls were back in action in a quad match on Wednesday facing Philip Barbour, RCB and East Fairmont. They also hosted Preston on Thursday.
