GHS volleyball competes in sectional seeding


PHILIPPI—The Grafton High School volleyball team headed to Philip Barbour High School last Saturday, to participate in the sectional seeding event.

The girls played hard but lost the first few matches to Petersburg (25-2 and 25-11), Frankfort (25-6 and 25-4) and Berkeley Springs (25-9 and 25-19).

The bright spot for the Lady Cats came in the Keyser game, as they defeated the Golden Tornados (25-23 and 25-20).

The girls returned home on Monday night, as they played host to the Lincoln Cougars. The varsity girls won three of the five games (25-16, 25-18 and 15-10).

Brianna Farnsworth recorded nine aces, two kills and five blocks, while teammate Hannah Taylor had three aces, seven kills and nine blocks.

Additionally, Harrison added four aces, five kills and nine blocks. Rachel Rock and Shannon Linton added five assists apiece for the Cats.

The girls were back in action last night at West Fairmont.
