GHS swims at Salem U


SALEM – The Grafton High School swim team was once again on the road last week as they headed to Salem University to take on Doddridge County and Philip Barbour.

In the team competitions both the boys team and girls team finished second in their respective divisions.

In individual and relay events the GHS team had several first place finishers. Jocelyn Countryman placed first in the girls 200 individual medley while teammate Payton England placed first in the 100 butterfly. Natalie Satterfield continued to have a solid winter as she placed first in the 50 yard free and the 200 backstroke. Madelyn Countryman also had a first place finished as she touched the wall sooner than all the other swimmers in the 100 freestyle.

Luke Nibert continued to swim at a high level as he won the 200 free and the 100 freestyle events. L. Nibert along with Matt Cather, Calvin Wise and Blaise Nibert placed first in the 200 yard free relay and also won the 200 medley relay.

The GHS swimmers will be back in the pool this Saturday as they will swim at Fairmont State University in the East Fairmont Invitational.
