BUCKHANNON—The Grafton High School swim team’s season came to an end Saturday afternoon, at the pool at West Virginia Wesleyan College.
The Bearcats came to Buckhannon hoping to advance swimmers into the WV state championships.
Unfortunately, the Cats would not advance, but several team members did score in the meet for GHS.
In the team competition, the GHS girls finished in eighth-place with nine points, while the boys finished in seventh-place with 21 points.
In individual competition, Luke Nibert scored five points for his sixth-place in the 50 free, and Jocelyn Countryman added three points with her sixth-place 200 IM.
Natalie Satterfield and Payton England each added one point apiece for their eighth-place finishes in the 50 free and 100 free respectively.
“We did not have any state qualifiers this year, but I couldn’t be any prouder of these kids,” said head coach Heather England. “They have been a wonderful group to coach, and I’m really going to miss these special seniors next year.”
