GHS swimmers compete at EFHS Invitational

FAIRMONT – The Grafton High School swim team competed in the East Fairmont High School Invitational last Saturday at Fairmont State University.  Grafton competed against teams from Fairmont Senior, East Fairmont, Morgantown, University, Philip Barbour, North Marion, and Doddridge Co.

In individual competition, Natalie Satterfield led all swimmers with solid third place finishes in the 50 free and 100 back.  Calvin Wise swam a personal best to take third in the 200 free.  Luke Nibert had fourth place finishes in the 50 and 100 free and Payton England took fourth in the 50 free and swam a seasonal best for fifth in the 100 free.
“A highlight for me as a coach was seeing freshman, Emily Cather, who has been working hard in her first season as a Bearcat swimmer,” said head coach Heather England. “She crushed her previous 100 free time of 1:28 by touching the wall in 11th place with a time of 1:19,” she added.

The swimming Cats will be back in the pool this Saturday as they travel to Parkersburg to swim in the Parkersburg Penguin Invitational. The meet is set to begin at 9:00 a.m.
