BUCKHANNON—The Grafton High School soccer teams were on the road again on Tuesday night, as they traveled to Upshur County to take on the Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneers.
Neither the boys team nor the girls team could muster much offense against the Bucs as the GHS boys fall 4 to 1 and the Lady Bearcats lose 4 to 0. The magic number for the Bucs must have been four.
The boys played first and managed only a single goal in the contest. The lone goal was scored by Gabe Wolverton at the 72:08 mark in the contest.
The Cats did have five shots on goal on the evening with Wolverton recording two of them. The remaining shots were credited to Tanner Taylor and Marik Chambers.
Chambers also led the defense with four steals in the contest. The remaining steals were recorded by Taylor (2), Gabe Wolverton (2), Eyan Moran (2) and Kaden Moore.
Alec Correia was in goal for the Cats as he had five saves and allowed four goals in the contest.
The Lady Bearcats followed the boys on Tuesday night. The Cats allowed one goal in the first half and three in the second as they go on to fall to the Lady Bucs, 4 to 0.
The teams were back in action at home last night against Liberty. Earlier this season both teams defeated Liberty in Clarksburg. The boys game will begin at 6:00 p.m. and the girls will follow at 8:00 p.m.
