GHS Lady Bearcats down Minutemaids and Grizzly Bears

GRAFTON—The Grafton High School (GHS) Lady Bearcat Soccer team has been hard at work this season, and recently took on two tough opponents, the Lewis County Minutemaids and the Nicholas County Grizzly Bears.

Last Thursday, the Lady Bearcats welcomed the Minutemaids to McKinney Field in a head-to-head contest under the lights, that would have GHS fans cheering and celebrating for most of the evening.

With stead play and determination, the Lady Bearcats secured the victory against the Maids, with a final score of 5-2.

Goals for the contest were scored at the feet of Addie Tucker, Mackenzie Hunter, Hadley Horne, Izzy Carrol and Leah Knotts.

The Lady Bearcats then made the trip to Summersville, to take on the Grizzly Bears, in another exciting contest for Grafton fans, on Saturday.

Strong teamwork, top-notch footwork and steady playing led the Lady Bearcats to another exciting victory, dominating play 4-1 against Nicholas County.

Hadley Horne led the Lady Bearcats in scoring, claiming three of the team’s four total goals. Mackenzie Hunter also got on the books, finding the back of the net for a single goal for the Lady Cats.

The ladies were back in action on last night in a road contest against Elkins High School.
