CLARKSBURG—The Grafton High School girls soccer team headed to Clarksburg last Thursday night, for a Big Ten showdown against RCB. The girls played even for the entire first half, but the Eagles took over in the second half and cruise to a 3—0 victory.

The Lady Cats could only manage three shots on goal, with all three of them coming in the first half off the foot of senior Ally Peters.

Kadie Dunham and Emily Knotts led the Bearcat defense with two steals apiece, while Maggie Dickey, Morgan Griffith, Josie Grass, Peters and Brooke Runner all had one steal for the Cats.

In goal for the Cats were Katie Grinnan and Bailey Toothman. Grinnan recorded six saves, while Toothman added one save.

“We played them even through the first 40 min. Tied 0-0 at half,” said head coach Lorraine Isner. “They dominated in the second half.  Two of their goals were 1v1 with our defender and RCB’s Casey Underwood finished two nice shots.  We had three shots in the first half, but did not create any scoring opportunities in the second half,” she added.

The Lady Cats were back in action, as the hosted Lincoln on Tuesday night. The next contest for GHS will be at Liberty on Thursday night. The game will begin at 6:00 p.m.
