GHS Freshmen improve record

PHILIPPI—The Grafton High School freshmen basketball team took their show on the road last week, as they headed to Philippi to battle the young Colts.

The game would be close, and the Bearcats found themselves down 30—25 at the half.

Coach Hartsel Keener must have inspired the offense at halftime, as the Cats came out and won the third quarter 16—11 and then dominated the final quarter 18—10.

Kaden Delaney led the Cats with 20 points, followed by Andrew Irvine with 16 and Tanner Moats with 11.

The remaining GHS points were scored by Justin Spiker (10) and Bryce Johnson (2).

The Cats would stay on the road on Monday, but this time, they would head to Farmington to face the North Marion Huskies. The Cats would have little problem with the Huskies, dominating another game 74—44.

The Cats would have nine players in the score book at the conclusion of the game. The points were scored by Spiker (28), Delaney (14), Irvine (10), Moats (7), Johnson (6), Cayden Boylen (3), Daniel Bord (2), James Helmondollar (2) and Matthew Helmondollar (2).

The Cats will be back in action tonight, at home, against Elkins. The game is set to begin at 6:00 p.m.
