GHS boys win fourth game of the year

GRAFTON—The Grafton High School boys basketball team (4-12) won its fourth game of the year, last Thursday night ,against the Lincoln Cougars.

The Bearcats used a big third quarter, and made free throws done the stretch to come away with a, 70—65 victory.

The Bearcats and Cougars played tight in the first quarter ,as the Bearcats held a one point lead behind the shooting of senior guard Dylan Dinaldo.

The Cougars rebounded in the second quarter, and at the half the Bearcats trailed 32—30.

The third quarter was big for the Bearcats, as they outscored the Cougars,23—15.

Caleb Bish led all scorers in that quarter with eight points.

The final quarter was just as close as the first, but with some clutch free throws the Bearcats held on 70—65.

“I thought in the first half we kind of lacked a little of the intensity at the defensive end,” said head coach Mike Johnson. “I thought we came out with our pressure (defense) and got the tempo where we like to play. Then we made our free throws down the end,  and that helped seal the game for us,” he added.

The leading scorer for the Bearcats was Dylan Dinaldo with 24 points, followed by Austin Young with 21.

The remaining Bearcats points came from Cameron Forte (4), Andrew Willis (2), Caleb Bish (14), Colton Moats (4) and Skylar Mease (1).

In Junior Varsity action ,the young Bearcats fell to the Cougars, 57—53.

The leading scorer for the Bearcats was Garrett Wellman ,with 24 points.

The remaining Bearcats in the scoring column were, Mikey Stottlemyer (2), Christian Hake (6), Dylan Massie (10), Garrett Moats (9) and Justin Whitehair (2).

Earlier in the week the Bearcats fell to RCB, 60—56.

The Bearcat scoring came from Cameron Forte (8), Andrew Willis (6), Dylan Dinaldo (16), Austin Young (18), Brandon Clark (2), Caleb Bish (6) and Skylar Mease (1).

The Bearcats will be back in action next Tuesday at Liberty and will return home, on Friday, against Berkeley Springs.
