CLARKSBURG—The Grafton High School soccer team has played four games in the last 10 days, as they run their season record to 5-5-2.
In the last four games, the Cats have lost to RCB, tied Lewis County and Elkins and dominated Petersburg.
In the loss to RCB, the Cats did not have a shot on goal in the contest, falling to the Eagles 4—0.
On defense, Gabe Wolverton led the Cats with five steals.
In goal for GHS was Alec Correia, who recorded three saves in the contest.
The next contest was a 1—1 tie with Lewis County. The lone GHS goal was scored by Marik Chambers, on a penalty kick in the first half.
Correia was again in goal for the Cats, as he had five saves in the game.
The Cats then went on the road for the next game, as they made the hour long drive to Elkins.
The Bearcats played hard, but in the end, the teams left the stadium with a 1—1 tie.
The GHS goal was scored in the second half, on a goal by Gabe Wolverton. The assist on Wolverton’s goal was credited to Chambers.
The Cats would return to their winning ways last Saturday, as they dominated Petersburg 10—0. The game took place in Petersburg and yes, they did have referees for the game.
The GHS goals were scored by Conor Goldizen, Tanner Taylor, Stetson Sanders, Zach Nestor (3), Alec Correia (2), Gabe Wolverton and Gavin Wolverton.
The assists were credited to Gabe Wolverton (2), Chambers, Ethan Anderson (3) and Gavin Wolverton.
Correia and Joey Charlton shared the keeper duties for the Bearcats in the shutout.
