GHS boys defeat Cougars, but fall to Colts

SHINNSTON—The Grafton High School boys basketball team, traveled to Shinnston last week, to take on the Cougars of Lincoln High School.

The Bearcats played hard the entire game, and came away with a 65—63 victory, on a three in the last few seconds, by Austin Young.

In the final moments of the game, Cameron Forte drove the lane and was fouled, but was still able to score the bucket for the Cats.

Forte then missed the free throw, but Andrew Willis pulled down the rebound for the Cats, and kicked it out to Young for the winning basket.

The Cats once again came out slow, and found themselves down 16—7 after the first quarter, but had a strong second quarter, and were only down 33—27 at the half.

Both teams played close in the third quarter, as they both added 18 points to their sides of the score board.

The Bearcats dominated the fourth quarter outscoring the Cougars 20—12.

Austin Young lead the Cats with 22 points, followed by Dylan Dinaldo with 18.

The remaining points came from Cameron Forte (11), Anthony Robinson (9) and Caleb Bish (5).

On Thursday the Bearcats travelled to Philippi and  were defeated by Philip Barbour 89— 75.

The Bearcats were led by Dylan Dinaldo with 19 points ,followed by Anthony Robinson with 15.

The remaining Cats in the scoring column were Cameron Forte (14), Austin Young (12), Caleb Bish (8) and Skylar Mease (8).

The Bearcats will be back in action this Thursday, as the host the Robert C. Byrd Eagles.

The Junior Varsity contest will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 7:30 p.m.
