GRAFTON—In the spirit of giving, the GFWV WV Woman’s Club of Grafton issued a check to a local retailer, as not only a generous gift, but as a thank you.
Back in September, members of the woman’s club welcomed guests to their annual car show.
The event was held at the Grafton Wal-Mart, and organizers revealed that they were able to raise a good amount of money for their club.
As a thank you to Wal-Mart for their generosity of allowing the car show to be held in a portion of their parking lot, and as a way to give back some of the proceeds made by the show, the woman’s club presented a check to the store last week.
“To say thank you, we are presenting a check to Wal-Mart that will be donated through them to WVU Children’s Hospital through the Children’s Miracle Network,” shared Woman’s Club President Tammy Bartlett.
Club members shared that the store was kind enough to not only allow the car show to be held on their grounds, but they also provided electricity and ice during the annual event.
Bartlett shared that the club is a service organization and they help raise money that is used to fund different projects and causes, both locally and internationally.
The club makes donations to various groups including the backpack programs and veteran’s programs, as well as sending students to Boys and Girls State and Conservation Camp. They also can often be seen making donations to local organizations and community events.
“We wanted to make a donation to Walmart’s Children’s Miracle Network to show them support in return for their support of our organization,” said Bartlett. “And with that, we again would like to say a big thank you to them.”
