Getting crafty at the senior center

TAYLOR COUNTY—Last week, seniors enjoyed fall, by making a fun craft at the Taylor County Senior Citizens Center.

Once a month, Library Director Alesha Tocco brings her creative ideas to the Taylor County Senior Citizen’s Center.

Last Wednesday, the attendees were all smiles as they painted and decorated pumpkin mason jars.

Interim Director at the Taylor County Senior Citizens Elissa Stewart shared that the seniors look forward to Tocco coming each month and teaching them hands on.

The crafts take place the first Wednesday of every month at 10:00 a.m.

Tocco shared that she approached the center with the idea of the monthly craft earlier this year and they have had a great response.

“I wanted to do more adult programs and the Taylor County Senior Center felt like a great partnership,” she expressed. “The library wants to be out into the community more and the seniors really enjoy the crafts.”

Tocco reported that the partnership started in March, and since then they have made a bleeding tissue transfer, a cupcake liner wreath, rag garland, American flag lanterns, coffee filter roses, cards for service people and pumpkin mason jars.
