Get creative for the holidays with the TCAC

GRAFTON—The folks at the Taylor County Arts Council are offering a bevy of fun classes this month at Gallery 62 West.

First up is the Cookie Cutter Christmas Ornaments class November 12 from 6:00-7:30 p.m.  Bring in your favorite cookie cutters and receive instruction on how to transform these shapes into gorgeous ornaments.

Inexpensive cookie cutters can turn out ornaments faster than a batch of cookies.  Folks will be amazed at how anyone, at any level, can make and paint these lovely keepsakes.

Tuition for this class is only $10.  You may register by messaging Gallery 62 West on Facebook or calling 304-518-0346.

The second class offered will be Make A Bowl 2019 #1.  This introductory class will concentrate on showing students how to make a bowl on the wheel.

The pottery wheel is where the magic begins.  Using the pottery wheel is called throwing, and these wheels are specifically designed for forming uniformly circular pieces like plates, cups and bowls.

The class will meet Wednesday, November 13 at 6:00 p.m. to throw, Wednesday, November 20 to trim and will meet for the last time on December 4 to glaze the bowl.

Tuition for this class is only $25 dollars and once again, interested individuals may register via Facebook Messenger or by calling 304-518-0346.

The third class will be the Slab Angel Class.  Students will make two angels each, out of clay slabs.

These slab angels will be able to be passed down from generation to generation.

On Tuesday, November 19, attendees will meet at 6:00 p.m. to build the angels.  Students will meet again on December 3 to glaze the angels.

The cost of this class is only $25 for both angles.  Interested parties may message the TCAC on Facebook Messenger or call 304-518-0346.

“I’m so proud of the classes and opportunities that the Taylor County Arts Council is offering.  I hope everyone comes out and takes advantage of these offerings.  These pieces would make wonderful holiday gifts,” said Ron Curry Co Chairman of the TCAC

“And if people are looking for special one-of-a-kind gifts and don’t want to attend a class, we also have a lovely gift shop at Gallery 62 West that we are very proud of,” Curry noted.

So, get ready to get crafty, creative and in the holiday spirit with these wonderful classes being held at Gallery 62 West by the Taylor County Arts Council.
