Gerald E. “Jerry” Galiyano, 60, of Elkins, WV, and formerly Flemington, WV, passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at the WVU Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
He was born in Trenton, NJ on September 17, 1957, a son of the late Carl and Helen Galiyano.
Jerry is survived by three sisters: Debra “Debbie” Pyle and husband Goldie of Flemington, Carla Blake of Clarksburg, and Barbara Reed and husband Steve of Bridgeport; eight nieces and nephews: Allen, Holly, Melissa, Chasity, Megan, Stephen Reed Jr, Doug, and Melody Newbrough; 15 great-nieces and nephews: Whitney, Jordan, Destiny, Kylie, Izak, Zachary, Christian, Christopher, Catlin, Bethany, Alexis, Jeffrey, Jeremy, Gwen, and Kaylee; and one great-great niece, Iris; and his companion Doris Norman of Elkins. A special thanks to his best-friends Butch and Sheila Corder for all of their kindness over the years to Jerry as well as his many other friends.
Jerry was employed at Northwest Hardwoods in Mill Creek. He was a past volunteer for the Flemington Volunteer Fire Department, enjoyed painting and model cars, and loved riding his motorcycle. Jerry also like working on cars and with plants; he especially liked Gladiolas. He was always passionate about doing anything outdoors and would also go out of his way to help others. Jerry’s favorite saying was, “Have a happy rainy, snowy, sunshiny day!”
Family and friends will be received at the Bradley J. Mayle Funeral Home in Flemington, WV, on Thursday, March 15, 2018, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, March 16, 2018, at 10:00 a.m., with Pastor Jim Burton presiding.
Interment will follow at the Flemington I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
