Gators finish out regular season against Bridgeport Country Club

GRAFTON—It’s been just over a month since the season officially began for the Grafton Gators Swim Club, but the regular season has already come to an end.

Coach Todd England’s team hosted Bridgeport Country Club this past Tuesday at Grafton City Pool in Fetterman and not surprising to anyone, many of the Gators won their respective event.

All-in-all, the Gators fell just short to the visiting Sharks by a cumulative score of 350-222 in over 70 events but not before many of Grafton’s swimmers touched the wall before their opponent. The boys fell 134-84 while the girls finished behind the Sharks with a score of 145-87.

Securing multiple victories for the Gators in the season finale were Jonathon Maier (with a team-high five first-place finishes in various events), Zack Nibert, Layne England, Dylan Stead, and Bryton Andrews. On the girls’ side, tallying multiple first-place victories were Katie Novisky, Natalie Beltner, Payton England, Jordan Niggemyer, Caroline Stead, and Riley Countryman.

The Gators will be back in action next week at the NCWV Summer Championships at the Shinnston City Pool on July 19-20. 15 swimmers will be representing Grafton at the championships.
