GRAFTON—The Grafton Youth Wrestling club hosted the 5th Annual Tony Williams Memorial Tournament on February 18, at Grafton High School.
The gym was filled to capacity as the young wrestlers took the mat.
After the long day of competition the Grafton club had four wrestlers finish in first place, and they include Jeremiah King, Sam Gutshall, Dylan Gutshall and JW Nestor.
They had four grapplers finish in second place, and they include Javon Vanscoy, Christian Cox, Garrett Davis and Cade Mooney.
Noah Allman, Autumn Knotts, Brayden Palmer, Aiden King and Jacob Stavrakis finished in third place.
“The wrestlers would like to thank everyone that made their home tournament possible,” said tournament organizer Christy Cox.
“GiGi Collett sang the National Anthem. John Bord did the announcing for the tournament.
In addition, Melissa and James Nestor, donated a pig to be raffled off and Tony Keener made beautiful wooden decorations, also to be raffled.
Donations were received by ,The Bartsch family, Arch Coal, Guttman Energy, Grafton City Hospital, Taylor County Total Care Clinic, S&S Mobile Home Transportation, A+ meat processing, Terry Austin, John Bord, AJ Farms, Sheme Family, All About Auto, 50/250 Auto Sales, Nickles Bakery and Dave’s Famous T&L Hotdogs.
The Wrestling Club would also like to extend their thanks Hometown Pizza and T’s Tasty Treats and Kevin Curry for helping with getting items ready for our Concession stand,” she concluded.
The youth wrestling club will be going into competition this weekend at the Regional Tournament, for Region II on March 5 at University High School, in Morgantown.
