Ernest F. Boyer passed October 3, 2020, to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at home, with loving arms of family at his bedside.
He was born in Keyser, West Virginia, to parents, Harriett Hannah and Porter R. Boyer.
For certain, he was a die-hard Marine, as he joined the Marine Corps and after his completion, he then signed to join the Army Reserve to continue his patriotic duty to our nation.
He accomplished many things in his life over the years. He played football in early years, high school, West Virginia University freshman team, and with the Marine Corps. He continued his education, starting with one college class at a time at West Virginia University, while working full-time night shift at Sterling Faucet. Sometime, during his desire for education, he also became a paramedic for the Taylor County Emergency Squad. Afterwards, he went on to finish college at Fairmont State and earned his Registered Nurse degree. He worked many years in the Emergency Room at Grafton City Hospital.
This was a man who was always ready to help anyone in need and had a personality of compassion and caring.
He is survived by a sister, Charlene, nephew, Christopher and his wife, Sue and their children, Hannah and Zachary. He was preceded by his parents and his longtime companion, Janice (Ellers) Haddix.
Heartfelt thanks to the superb care by WV Caring Hospice of Marion County.
Ernest chose cremation and a service at the National Cemetery will be private for family only at a date to be determined later.
