Dragons Den members battle their way through another competition

Competitors earn top honors in multiple categories

GRAFTON—Members from Dragons Den Mixed Martial Arts put their training to the test at the Battle on the Hill tournament recently.

The team, comprised of Gerald Raikes, Olivia Kniceley, Jake Curry, Jacob Cox, Jordan Walters, Draken Swick and Samuel and Jennie VanOsdol, competed in many categories and brought home numerous awards from the competition, which was held at East Fairmont Middle School.

“I didn’t get to see my team compete,” shared Sensei Eric Swick. “I was in another ring judging competitors, but by their medal count, they did great!”

The VanOsdols brought home top honors. Jennie fought her way to the top, earning gold in kata and kumite, while Samuel was awarded gold in his kumite competition and bronze in both kata and weapons.

D. Swick showed off his skills as he was able to bring back a silver medal in the team kata competition, a silver in the weapons competition and a bronze in kumite.

Cox battled his way to a silver in team kata, a silver in weapons and a bronze in kumite.

In addition, Raikes, Curry, Kniceley and Walters were all awarded silver medals in both the kata and kumite competitions.

“I am very proud of my team’s hard work and their performance at the Battle on the Hill,” shared Sensei Swick. “Their hard work and dedication to the sport are paying off. I expect nothing less from this team!”

Dragon’s Den is gearing up to host their home tournament later this month.
