Donna Lou (Miller) Goff, 81, of Fairmont, went to be with the Lord following a long battle with Alzheimer’s and dementia on Monday, April 9, 2018, at the Home Away From Home Assisted Living Facility in Grafton.
She was born in Keyser on November 24, 1936, a daughter of the late Roy Alexander Miller and Bernice Mae (Brown) Miller.
Donna enjoyed many activities, including quilting, ceramics, sewing, and baking. In her early years, she was very active in her church, Central United Methodist Church, in Fairmont, where she participated in the Women’s Society, the Esther Circle, and sang in the church choir. She helped with preparations for many festivities and dinners in an effort to further the Lord’s work, and she enjoyed that time spent with friends and her church family.
Donna Lou graduated from Keyser High School, class of 1955, and attended Potomac State College for one year before marrying her high school sweetheart, Harold Lyn Goff, on June 17, 1956.
She is survived by her two children, Victoria Lynne “Vicky” (Goff) Steele, of Grafton, and Scott Linn Goff, of Smyrna, Georgia; two grandsons, C. Matthew Steele, of Ashikaga, Japan, and Timothy J. Steele, of Charleston; and two great-granddaughters, Ibuki of Ashikaga, Japan, and Alorianna Holly, to be born in July 2018,
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 44 years, Harold Lyn Goff; her sister, Yvonne Wilson, of San Antonio, Texas; her brother, Richard Miller, of Dover, Delaware; her son-in-law, Charles G. Steele; and by a granddaughter, Holly Elizabeth Steele.
Friends and family are invited to visit at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, Fairmont, on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., and from 4:00-7:00 p.m., and on Friday from noon until 1:00 p.m., at Central United Methodist Church, 301 Fairmont Avenue, Fairmont. Donna’s Celebration of Life will be held at the Church on Friday, April 13, 2018, at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Junius Lewis officiating.
A committal service will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery, to lay Donna’s body to rest and give her spirit peace.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, West Virginia Chapter, 1601 2nd Ave, Charleston, WV 25387, or to the American Cancer Society, 145 Fayette St, Morgantown, WV 26505.
