Diane L. Dougherty, 87, of Tiffin, passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2021 in Powell, Ohio.
She was born on December 30, 1933, in Grafton, WV to Charles and Ettapearl (Rogers) Sweet.
On July 21, 1957, she married James R. “Bob” Dougherty.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, James R. “Bob” Dougherty of Powell; son, Gary (Lori McKenzie) Dougherty of Powell; daughter, Jennifer (Bob) Dennis of Palm Harbor, FL; and three grandchildren, Andrew Dennis, Molly Dougherty and Sarah Dougherty.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Diane graduated in 1951 from Grafton High School, attended Penn College for Women for two years before transferring to Fairmont State in Fairmont, WV where she earned her Bachelor’s in Education. She was a high school teacher in Grafton, Ohio, volunteered at the Ritz for 30 years, receiving numerous awards, including Volunteer of the Year Award and was in the Theatre Hall of Fame. She also received the Everyday Hero Award with the Red Cross, was an Ohio State University fan, enjoyed playing Bingo, shopping and made the best ice cream cake.
Her Funeral Service will be at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 27, 2021, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424, with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
