Delilah “Belle” (Findley) Keener

On Wednesday, August 29, 2018, Delilah “Belle” (Findley) Keener of Bridgeport (Meadland Community), WV finished her race and graduated to heaven surrounded by her family.

She was born July 1, 1934 in Wendel, WV, to the late James Frank and Mary Ernestine (Gall) Findley.

She was married to John M. Keener June 22,1954 and was happily married for 64 years.

Surviving are four children, Linda (Rodney) McQuain of Sand Ridge Road, Taylor County, Duane (Rita) Keener also of Sand Ridge Road, Minda (Nick) Duryea of Harmony Grove Community, and John Mark (Kathy) Keener of Bridgeport; nine grandchildren, Michael Keener, Tabitha (Josh) Weaver, Todd (Amanda) Duryea, Allan Keener, Karsyn Keener, Jarod McQuain, J.R. Keener, Jason (Candace) McQuain, and Derek (Desiree) McQuain; 19 great-grandchildren, Layla, Zachary, Wyatt, Chloe, Brady, Hunter, Trevor, Hayley, Titan, Violet, Colton, Olivia, Aurora, Rosie, Madison, Brice, Lucy, Julia, and Owen.

She is also survived by one brother, Charles (Jane) Findley of Meadland Community and a sister-in-law, Connie Findley of Bridgeport.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by, two sisters, Eleanor Marie Findley and Martha Jane Smith and one brother, Frank Earl Findley.

Belle graduated from Grafton High School in 1952 and went to Parkersburg Business College for a bookkeeper, which she was for John when he became a State Farm agent for 38 years.

She was a stay at home mom and grandmother for her grandchildren.  She was a member of the Hepzibah Baptist Church for 66 years and participated as teacher of all Sunday School classes and held offices in many of the organizations of the church.

She was very active in Child Evangelism for over 40 years and was instrumental in having a Good News Club at Hepzibah and West Taylor Schools.

Her life verses from the Bible were Proverbs 3: 5&6 “ Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not to your own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths.”  And Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose.

She loved to sew, making clothes for her children and grandchildren, especially her daughters and granddaughters.  She pieced and quilted many quilts, crocheted and knitted.  As a Mom and Grandmother no one left her house hungry.  She loved the outdoors, gardening, playing golf with John, traveling, and bowled on the Wednesday Coffee League for many years.

The family will receive friends at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home in Grafton on Friday, August 31, 2018 from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Hepzibah Baptist Church (Meadland Community) on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Alan Rosenberger officiating.

Interment will follow at the Woodsdale Memorial Park in Grafton.

In lieu of flowers the family wishes donations be made to the Child Evangelism Fellowship, North Central Chapter P.O. Box 24 Kingmont, WV  26578
