Debra L. “Debbie” Hickman, 58, of Simpson, WV, passed away on Friday, October 26, 2018 at home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Chicopee, MA on May 3, 1960, daughter of the late Beaulah (Riffle) Leach. She was also preceded in death one brother Ronald (Ronnie) Leach of SC.
Debbie was known to many as caretaker, best friend, and support system. She was proudest to be known as “Mom” and “Aunt Debbie”.
Debra is survived by her husband Cecil F. Hickman; one special daughter, Mandy L. Leach (wife Rachel Gervais) of FL; father Delbert Leach (wife Mary) of VA; two brothers: Stan Leach (wife Michele) and David Leach (wife Delena) all of Simpson; special nephews and niece: Christopher Leach (wife Deanna), Adam Leach (wife Adrea), Daniel Leach (wife Alex), David Leach II (wife Valerie) all of Bridgeport, Mellisa Workman (husband Casey) of Simpson, and Greg Leach of SC. Also surviving are several cherished great nieces and nephews.
Debbie was a graduate of Flemington High School and then received her CNA and Phlebotomy Certifications. She worked for Grafton City Hospital and the Tygart Valley Total Care Clinic for 27 years.
She never knew a stranger. Debbie was very family oriented and loved them all dearly. She enjoyed cooking and baking. Debbie also enjoyed playing games with her daughter (Mandy) like dominoes and rarely could you beat her at a hand of gin rummy.
Debra’s wishes for cremation services will be honored. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at the Union Baptist Church in Simpson.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to American Cancer Society and/or Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
