David “Larry” McCoy


David “Larry” McCoy, passed away on June 29, 2017, at the home of his oldest son, Mark in Martinsburg surrounded by his loving family.

Born October 5, 1939 in Grafton, WV  he was the son of the late Benjamin Franklin and Alma Hickman McCoy.

He was a 1957 graduate of Grafton High School.  He moved the family in 1962 to start a 35 year career with John Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, MD.  As a native of Grafton he liked all things locomotive.  He enjoyed gardening and became an amateur sommelier while participating in his winemaking club.

He is survived by two sons, Mark McCoy and wife, Dawn of Martinsburg, WV, David McCoy of Baltimore, MD; two grandchildren, Tyler and Dalton McCoy; four sisters, Eunice H. Haynes of Dunbar, WV, Ruth C. Hackney of LA, California, Helen C. Lawvey of Las Vegas, NV, and Sara J. Grey of Amarillo, TX; and one brother,  John T.  McCoy.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters, Joseph F., Ralph L., Albert S., James E., and Josephine McCoy, and Mary K. Warder.

Services and interment are private.
