David Edward Elson Poling, 50 years old, of Parkersburg, WV, recently passed away at his residence.
He is the oldest son of the late Kermit and Patricia (Patty) Groves Poling, of Pennsboro, WV. He is the grandson of Dorsey and Maxine Groves and Durward and Della Poling, Uncle Daniel Poling who proceeded him in death.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his daughter Britny Poling and brother Mikael Poling both of Pennsboro, WV, and several nieces and nephews.
David attended Taylor County Schools from 1976 to 1983 when the family moved to Pennsboro. He played football his freshman year as a Bearcat, he also played football at Pennsboro and was a member of the track team. He graduated in 1986 from Pennsboro High School.
Following graduation, he was in the Army, stationed in Germany. He had been employed at IGA, Simonton Windows and Fiber Optics. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from WVU-P in Applied Science of Manufacturing Process.
David had a great passion for music; playing a variety of instruments. The greatest being the guitar. He started playing in Grafton, and was the lead singer in three local rock bands, most notably Snake Oil Band, Jessie Jones Band and Route 74. Snake Oil Band, which made an album and was on the radio.
He will be missed by family and friends. He attended downtown Bethel Church in Parkersburg.
