TAYLOR COUNTY—Tomorrow, Taylor County residents will participate in the county wide cleanup, Bringing the Shine Back Taylor County. But, when picking up trash, they will need some place to disposed of it properly, so organizers have set up dumpsters in various locations throughout the county.
In total, four dumpsters will be set up throughout the county for folks to be able to easily dispose of trash.
There will be a dumpster available at the Thornton School, in Webster at the intersection of US Route 119 South and Simpson Road, at Hard Core Hunters and one on St. John’s Street, near the railroad tracks.
The dumpsters will be in place all day Saturday and Sunday, but participants will need to keep in mind that not all collected items may be placed in the containers.
The garbage receptacles are unable to take car batteries, tires, wet paint or Freon, according to cleanup organizers.
“However, your garbage company will take old tube TVs, large computer monitors, and large items such as furniture, old appliances and up to 8 tires per year. They just ask that you call them in advance, so that they can schedule a large pick up,” said Breanna Collins of All Aboard Grafton.
There will be a dump truck located at the Church of the Good Shephard, on Lucas Dairy Road, that can take tires and old appliances.
The Bringing the Shine Back Taylor County event will kick off at the Church of the Good Shephard at 10:00 a.m., and will run through 1:00 p.m. At kickoff, teams will receive their gloves and trash bags.
There will be cash prizes for the three teams with the most members.
Following the cleanup, there will be a celebratory picnic held at the Church of the Good Shephard at 1:00 p.m., to thank the participants for spending their Saturday morning cleaning up their community.
If you have not signed up for a team or are unable to help pick up trash, you can thank the people that are participating by donating a dessert or drink to the picnic. Donations can be dropped off from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., at the Church of the Good Shephard.
