Celebrate dad with a cruise on Tygart Lake

TYGART LAKE— Father’s Day is tomorrow, and the folks at Tygart Lake Marina are offering the perfect way to spend some time with dad. 

Guests are invited to spend the day celebrating on Tygart Lake aboard the Princess Cruise Boat with Tygart Lake Cruise’s special Father’s Day Cruise. 

Get ready to set off for an afternoon of adventure, history and fun, with two separate cruise options for individuals to choose from. The first tour will take off on Sunday, June 19, with a departure time of 11:00 a.m., while the second boat will leave the marina at 2:00 p.m.

The historical tour, complete with beautiful views and historical stories, will cruise through the waters concluding approximately two hours after launch. 

During their time aboard the ship, guests will hear stories about the eleven men who died building the dam, five communities that are now under water, Indians who once inhabited the area, tales of the civil war and various other stories.

Organizers suggest that riders be prepared to board The Princess 45 minutes in advance. 

Can’t make the Father’s Day Cruise? Don’t worry, Tygart Lake Cruises will be offering Scenic Cruises on various Dates from June 23 until August 18. All cruises will depart the marina at 2:00 p.m., and tickets are the same cost as those mentioned above.

Tygart Lake Cruises will also continue to offer their Open Historic Cruises throughout the summer, and individuals can take part for just $20 a ride. Again, those under 5 are admitted for free.

And don’t miss out on their Independence Day and Labor Day Cruises. What better way to celebrate than with a ride on Tygart Lake? Both of those outings are slated for 2:00 p.m., as well.

The Princess staff will be welcoming guests aboard for Dinner Cruises on June 24, July 9, July 29, August 12 and August 26. The boat will launch at 5:00 p.m. Participants can enjoy dinner on the lake, for just $35 per person.

For those who would prefer a more private and personal float on the lake, Tygart Lake Cruises also provides private charters aboard the Princess. Charters are offered in the morning from 10:00 a.m. until noon or 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., afternoon from 2:00-4:00 p.m., and in the evening from 5:00-7:00 p.m.

In order to secure the Princess for private charter, there must be a minimum of at least 30 paying guests in each party, with a maximum occupancy of 120 individuals.
