CLARKSBURG—The Grafton High School boys basketball team was on the road once again on Tuesday night, when they traveled to the west side of Harrison County, to battle the Liberty Mountaineers. The boys had little trouble controlling the contest, and left Clarksburg with an 86—59 victory.
The first and second quarters were a mirror image, as the Bearcats won both of the quarters 21—16. At the half, the Cats held a 42—32 lead.
Coach Mike Johnson’s Cats’ defense played lights out in the third quarter, holding the Mountaineers to just nine points.
The Bearcats would go on to outscore Liberty 24—18 in the fourth quarter, to earn their fifth victory of the season.
Jack Faulkner led the Bearcats with 26 points in the contest.
The remaining points were scored by Dylan Massie (11), Logan Beltner (10), Blake Moore (10), Ryan Maier (9), Caleb Bish (8), Garrett Moats (4), Blain Moore (4), Matt Gallo (2) and Garrett Wellman (2).
The Bearcat JV team was also victorious as they defeated Liberty 81—36.
The varsity boys will be back in action tonight, when they face Berkeley Springs at home. The game is set to begin at 7:30 p.m.
