Calvin W. “Joe” Stewart


 Calvin W. “Joe” Stewart, 74, of Flemington, WV, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2017 at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport. He was born on November 16, 1942 in Flemington, a son of the late Alliston Paul Stewart Sr. and Marjorie Pearl (Waller) Stewart. Joe is survived by his wife of 55 years, Judith R. (Cottrill) Stewart.

 

In addition to his wife Mr. Stewart is survived by four children: Calvin W. Stewart II and wife Becky Jean Ives of Webster, Cynthia L. “Cyndi” Booth and husband Timothy of Belpre, OH, David Thomas Stewart of Belpre, OH, and Carla Jo Dobbins and husband Pat of Meadland; one brother, Richard Gene Stewart and wife Eleanor of Marietta, OH; four grandchildren: Angela Dawn Booth of Belpre, OH, Jessica Rae Stewart of Grafton, Chelsea Jo Keener of Flemington, and Austin Clayton “Clay” Cadier of Flemington; and one great granddaughter, Lyric Madisen Stewart of Grafton. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

 

In addition to his parents Calvin was preceded in death by three siblings: Georgina Soliwoda, Martha Leon Bonnett, and Alliston Paul Stewart Jr; and his faithful companion dog, “Sandy.”

 

Joe retired from Union Carbide as a fork life operator. He loved hunting and fishing as well as gardening and photography. Joe was a very generous and caring man, always lending a helpful hand to others. He enjoyed staying busy and always offered his time to help the town of Flemington as well. Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be greatly missed.

 

A gathering of family and friends will be held at the Bradley J. Mayle Funeral Home in Flemington, WV, on Friday, March 17, 2017 from 5 until 7pm, at which time a memorial service will be celebrated with Pastor Lois Sandy presiding. The Bradley J. Mayle Funeral Home is honored to serve the Stewart Family during this time.
