GRAFTON— Grafton High School (GHS) has recently announced the return of their cheer program’s Mini Cats Cheer Camp tradition.
Bearcat cheerleaders and coaches are excited to once again be hosting this opportunity for athletes ages six-12 that are aspiring to one day become a member of the Grafton cheer squad.
Through the three day camp, participants will learn proper techniques from Bearcat cheerleaders and coaches on the basic fundamentals of cheer motions.
They will also work on improving their flexibly and jumps, while also getting lessons on stunting and tumbling, and most importantly, this event is all about having fun.
“We want to give the athletes in x community the ability to follow their passion in cheer, and give them someone to look up to, while providing them something to look forward to this summer,” shared GHS cheer coach Chatera Morris.
Each camp goer will receive a custom t-shirt and will be given the opportunity to perform with the GHS cheerleaders at a home football game this coming season.
The camp is slated for July 7-9, from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. inside of the Scotty Hamilton Gymnasium. The cost for each camper is $50.
Mini Cats should be sure to wear comfortable clothes such as shorts and a t-shirt or tank top, and tennis shoes, with their hair pulled up and out of their face. When attending, they should also bring a water bottle and a nutritious snack.
Morris shared that so far, the event has registered 25 young Cats who are looking to sharpen their cheerleading talents.
