Buck Run Road closure extended, project continues

TAYLOR COUNTY—The West Virginia Department of Transportation Division of Highways (DOH) has announced the extension of a project that will impact travel for motorists.

Work began on Wednesday, November 2, and continued through Thursday, November 10 on Taylor County Route 34, also known as Buck Run Road, that called for a complete road closure.

The WV DOH has reported that there will be an extension on the time period, as the project continues.

The extension means that motorists will not be able to travel the route, as it remains closed until the completion of the project.

Buck Run Road will remain closed at milepost 2.79 for a piling wall installation and culvert replacement through Thursday, November 17.

The work will be completed between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Motorists will need to travel the alternate route proposed by the Division of Highways, which is by taking Berry Run Road, County Route 3, instead.

Officials urge drivers to notice that this is a complete road closure, and that all traffic, including emergency service and school vehicles must use an alternate route.

Motorists are cautioned to expect delays during the duration of the project and are urged to plan ahead and allow additional time for their commute.

The Department of Transportation would also like to remind drivers that inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances could alter the project’s schedule.
