Betty Jane Smith


Betty Jane Smith, formally of Rosemont, West Virginia, passed into eternal life on March 26, 2021 at Trinitas Hospital in Elizabeth, New Jersey.  
Betty was one of thirteen children born to Mary and Frank Smith of Rosemont, West Virginia on September 16, 1937.  
After graduating Flemington, West Virginia high school, Betty moved to Elizabeth, New Jersey and resided there the rest of her adult life. She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Elizabeth, NJ.
Betty retired as a Banking Supervisor after working most of her career within the banking community.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Frank Smith; her sisters, Julia (Bob)Zabita, Rosemary (Frank) Rugutski, Pauline (Bill) Reichers Kranski, Darlene (Grover) Stewart; and her brothers, Frank Smith Jr., James Smith, Albert (Dorothy) Smith, William Smith, Delano Smith, and Anthony Smith.  
She is survived by her sister Margaret Betz of Wauwatosa, WI; her brother Stanley and his wife Eileen Smith of Piscataway, NJ; and sisters-in-law Barbara Smith of Flemington, WV, Brenda Smith of Rosemont, WV and Deborah Smith of Cameron, WV.  Betty is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, especially Carolyn Vrabel and her husband Joseph of Catasauqua, PA; and great and great-great nieces and nephews, along with several dear friends, all of whom were a very important part of Betty’s life.
Betty will be remembered as a vibrant, full of life person who lived every day to the fullest.  Betty was an avid reader, loved her soap operas and enjoyed shopping.
She could be seen walking along Elmora Avenue and taking her daily walks around Warinanco Park.  She loved spending time with her friends and her family and so enjoyed trips to visit with her extended family in Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
A Memorial Mass to celebrate Betty’s life will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at St. Frances Cabrini Church, 208 Bound Brook Avenue, Piscataway, New Jersey at 2:00 p.m.  
Betty will be buried in Rosemont, West Virginia at a later date.
Cremation arrangements were under the care of Krowicki McCracken Funeral Home, Linden, New Jersey.
