GRAFTON—On Saturday, the Grafton Bearcubs PeeWees hosted the Summersville Little Bears in a matchup at McKinney Field in Grafton.
The Little Bears, last year’s Mountaineer Youth Conference champions, were just too much for the Bearcubs to handle, as they won the game by a score of 38-0.
For the Bearcubs, leading the running attack on offense was Chace Kinsey with 10 rushes for 86 yards.
He was followed by Jacob Moats who rushed 9 times for 32 yards, and JW Nestor who ran the ball 3 times for 12 yards. Cameron Gray pitched in 3 yards on offense as well.
On the defensive side of the ball, Cole Boyles led the way with 8 tackles, while Nevan Armstrong added 5.
Kinsey and Hunter Barlow both tallied 4, while Braylon Shaw had 2.
Ryan Boyles, Isaac Young, and Aiden Kittle-Mayle were also credited with tackles.
“We got bit pretty bad by the injury bug this week, and we also had too many turnovers and penalties,” said Bearcubs’ head coach Ben Kinsey. “We’ll be looking to bounce back next week against the Little Eagles of Robert C. Byrd.”
The Bearcubs PeeWee team (4-2) has two games remaining. The first will be on the road against the Little Eagles (1-5) at Robert C. Byrd High School on Sunday, October 20, and the second will be against Elkins at Grafton High School.
The first game against RCB is scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m., while the second game against Elkins is scheduled to start at 5:00 p.m.
