GRAFTON— The time has finally come to break out your blue and gold and cheer on the Bearcats!
The Grafton football team will be hosting their first home scrimmage today and is ready to welcome fans to the stands to cheer them on, as they prepare to kick off the 2021 season.
The Bearcats are scheduled to take to the field at 11:00 a.m., hosting the Frankfort Falcons.
The Falcons are led by Head Coach Kevin Whiteman and were ranked 17th in the state at the conclusion of the 2020 season.
The Bearcats will once again be under the direction of Head Coach Rich Bord, who saw promise in his team during the off-season when they delivered an outstanding performance in the highly regarded Washington and Jefferson 7-on-7 tournament held at in Washington, Pennsylvania.
Although the Cats didn’t have the season they were hoping for last year, Bord says the program is taking a step in the right direction and making necessary strides to improve in 2021.
The program is boasting one of its largest groups of incoming freshmen this season, and according to Bord, the three-week practice period in July was beneficial to those younger players.
Hoping to proceed with their season as normal as possible, the Bearcats are ready to suit up and take the field.
So, be sure to come out today, at 11:00 a.m., to support these athletes before their season officially gets underway.
Grafton is slated to play their first regular season contest on Friday, August 27, and will be on the road in Pendleton County.
