Bearcats host North Marion tonight

Game will decide playoff status

GRAFTON – The Grafton High School football team will be playing their final regular season game tonight at McKinney Field as they host the Huskies of North Marion.

The Bearcats are coming off of a tough loss last Friday night to the Elkins Tigers (27-7) and the Huskies also recorded a loss last week at the hands of Robert C. Byrd (28-9).

The Bearcats are currently setting right outside of the WV AA playoff picture at # 17. With a win tonight over the Huskies and with a little help from other schools, the Cats could find themselves back in the playoff picture.

The Huskies come in at the #26 team in class AA with a 4-5 record. The Huskies have wins over Preston, East Fairmont, Elkins and Braxton and their losses have been to Nicholas County, Fairmont Senior, Bridgeport, Lewis County and RCB.

Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at McKinney Field. Tonight will also be Senior Night for all of the GHS fall athletes. As normal practice at GHS all senior fall athletes will be honored before the game as they will walk with their parents one last time across the green turf of McKinney Field.

Please come out and support the Bearcats and honor these senior athletes who have given four years to their school and community.
