BRIDGEPORT – The Grafton High School boys basketball team made the short drive to Bridgeport on Tuesday night to take on the Bridgeport High School Indians.
Senior Dylan Massie was hot out of the gate for GHS as he dropped eight of his ten points in the first quarter. The rest of the Cats were not as hot in the first as they would trail the Indians 17 to 14 at the end of one.
The two teams played the second quarter almost even as the Indians were one point better than the Cats. This quarter was dominated by Jack Faulkner as he scored 14 of the Cats 17 points. At the half the Indians held a 37 to 31 advantage.
The turning point of the contest came in the third quarter when the Bearcat offense went stale. The Cats would only manage 10 points in the quarter with Faulkner scoring eight of those points.
The Cats would play even in the fourth but it was all over by then as the Indians cruised to an 80 to 58 win.
Faulkner seemed to be the only offense on the night for GHS as top all scorers with 27. The remaining scorers for GHS were Dylan Massie (10), Matt Gallo (8), Caleb Bish (7), Blake Moore (3) and Ryan Maier (3).
The boys continued on the road last night as they battled Lewis County in South Weston. The results will be in the next edition of the Mountain Statesman.
