Bearcat Golfers take on Trinity at home

GRAFTON—The Grafton High School (GHS) Bearcat Golf Team was once again in action on Tuesday, September 21 and came out with another victory under their belts.

The Cats were set to take on teams from Trinity, Oak Glen and Preston County, however it would become a matchup between GHS and Trinity, on the links at Tygart Lake Public Golf Course.

The home advantage fared well for Grafton, as they were able to claim the low score for the day. When play was completed, the Cats had shot a total combined score of 184, ten points better than Trinity’s 194.

Representing the Bearcats were Dustin Keener, who shot a 45 on the day; Aiden Sheme, who recorded a 46; Brayden Palmer, who earned a 50; and Wyatt Poling.

Poling, for his first-time as a GHS Bearcat Golfer, outshot the competition, earning Low Medalist during the match, recording a score of 43.

The Bearcats were set to hit the fairways and greens of Tygart Lake Public Golf Course again on Wednesday, September 22, to take on Lincoln, however that match was cancelled due to weather.

The Grafton squad is scheduled to be back in action on Monday, September 27, when they make their way to Green Hills Country Club in Fairmont for the Regional Golf Tournament, set to begin at 10:00 a.m.
