GRAFTON—The Grafton High School freshman Basketball team (12-7) ,played host to the Preston County Knights last Wednesday night, at the Clair Bee Fieldhouse.
The game was never in question, as the Bearcats outscored the Knights, 22—4 in the first quarter, and never looked back, on their way to a 73—34 lop-sided victory.
Logan Beltner, led the way for the freshman, with 15 points, followed by Jack Faulkner, with 13 points.
The remaining points came from Devin Vanscoy (6), Mark Irvine (8), Mason Henderson (6), Elijah Drainer (5), Matt Gallo (6), Joey Charlton (5), Jackson Markley (7) and Michael Wildman (2).
The young Bearcats traveled to Buckhannon on Fridays, however,they did not fare as well as, they fell to Buckhannon Upshur, 57—55 ,on a last second buzzer beater.
The Bearcats had a five point lead going into the final period but, could not hold on in the end.
Faulkner led the young Cats with 20 points, while Vanscoy added 14 of his own.
The remaining points came from Beltner (3), Irvine (8), Henderson (2), Drainer (5) and Charlton (3).
The final season record for the freshman Bearcats was 12 wins with seven losses.
