Avery Ray Vandergrift, 70, of Grafton passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at his residence with his loving family by his side.
He was born January 28, 1947, in Fairmont, WV, a son of the late Leonard and Grace Biddle Vandergrift.
Avery is survived by his loving wife Charlotte Hart Vandergrift, they were united in marriage August 21, 1977.
He was retired from Minnotte Machine Shop, Fairmont, loved to work on cars, hunt cutting fire wood, and working in his beautiful yard, and being with his grandchildren.
Avery is survived by one son, Brian Ray Vandergrift and Fiancé Melissa Lytle, Grafton; two grandsons, Leeland Vandergrift and Christopher Lytle; one sister, Helen Little and husband Gary, Bridgeport; two brothers, Tommy Vandergrift, Bridgeport, and Leonard Darrell Vandergrift and wife Pam, Grafton; one sister-in-law, Helen Hart, Grafton; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Clarence “Ike” Vandergrift.
Friends will be received at Bartlett Funeral Home 202 McGraw Ave. Grafton on Friday, December 22, 2017, from 2:00-7:00 p.m., and on Saturday, December 23, 2017, from 9:00 a.m., until the time of services at 11:00 a.m, with Pastor Jimmy Johnson officiating.
Interment will follow at Woodsdale Memorial Park.
