Ava “Avonelle” (Durrett) McCauley, age 88, of Turner Road, Grafton, WV, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2020 at the Home Away from Home Assisted Living.
She was born October 11, 1931 in Belington, WV the daughter of the late Cecil and Lovina C. (Freeman) Durrett.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 68 years, James K. McCauley; one son, Keith A. McCauley and wife Brenda of Grafton; one grandson, Daniel K. McCauley at home; one granddaughter, Sara A. McCauley of Morgantown; also several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Joseph Durrett.
She was the last surviving member or her immediate family.
Avonelle graduated from the Belington High School in Barbour County with the Class of 1949. She worked as the office manager for the US Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service of Taylor County where she retired with 35 years of service.
She was a member of the Grafton Business and Professional Women’s Club and a member of the Blueville Church of Christ.
She enjoyed her family, her garden, and traveling.
The family will have a private viewing at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home in Grafton on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 and a private graveside service will follow at the Woodsdale Memorial Park Cemetery in Grafton.
