Attention Equestrians!

Memorial Day Committee announces the allowance of horses in this year’s parade

GRAFTON—The Memorial Day Parade Committee would like to extend an invitation for you to join us in this year’s 150th Memorial Day Parade.

We are looking for experienced horsemen and horsewomen with seasoned horses.

Since we are celebrating our 150th year, all riders are required to wear red, white, and blue. Riders are encouraged to gussy up their equine as well, because this year the Parade Committee will be awarding a cash prize for the “Best in Show Female” horse and rider and the “Best in Show Male” horse and rider.  So be extremely creative, and most of all, have fun!

Riders will be required to sign a waiver. The committee will no longer accept a blanket entry form for equestrians to simply show up and ride.  Please submit an Equine entry form with the number of horses, each rider’s name, age, and signature, as well as the number of trailers you will be bringing with your group.  This year’s parade will be larger than previous years, so we must plan accordingly.  Information on the drop off point for horses and parking for trailers will be sent to all entries.

Rules to Follow:

ABSOLUTELY NO STALLIONS!  Children riding under 16 years of age must wear a helmet.  Must have current Coggins.  Liability insurance for each entry is recommended.  *Rules are subject to change.

As in the past, all horses that do not have manure bags will be in the back of the parade.  Should you wish to ride anywhere other than last, your horse must have a manure bag. Also, if you want your individual or group to be published in the program, your entry form must be submitted to the Parade Committee by April 24th, 2017. Otherwise, the committee will accept equine entries until parade day.  Entries forms can be obtained by emailing [email protected]  Remember to check out our Facebook page for up to date information as parade day draws near.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact The Memorial Day Parade Committee.
