Annual memorial golf tournament held in honor of Mandy Boyles

TAYLOR COUNTY—The rolling hills and plush greens of Tygart Lake Public Golf Course (TLPGC) will soon be inviting golfers and guests alike to participate in a special event that is set to give back to the youth of the county.

Join the Boyles family for their annual Mandy Boyles Memorial Golf Tournament on Saturday, June 18.

Golfers, in teams of four, will register between 8:00-8:30 a.m., with txee off time being set for 9:00 a.m.

Four-man teams can join in on the competitive fun, enjoying a day on the greens of TLPGC for a good cause.

The cost per team is $200, which includes the registration fee and lunch.

Golfers should come ready to compete, as organizers are offering cash prizes for first, second and third place teams.

In addition, the teams who secure the longest drive, longest putt or land their golf balls closest to the pin will also receive awards.

During the event, individuals can also opt to take part in 50/50 drawings, Mulligans and raffles.

Teams may pre-register for the event by calling the TLPGC Clubhouse at 304-265-3100. Alternately, participants may also call 304-612-5760 to be added to the list.

According to organizers there are limited spots available, and golfers are encouraged to form their teams and place their calls to take part as soon as possible.

For those who would like to help with the event but haven’t mastered the fine art of golfing, hole sponsorships are available. For just $100, individuals, clubs, organizations or businesses can sponsor a hole during the event.

Anyone wishing to become a sponsor should call the aforementioned phone numbers.

This event is put on annually in honor and remembrance of Amanda Marie “Mandy” Boyles.

In 1997, at the young age of just 17, her life was tragically lost following an auto accident.

As a “special angel” to the community, Boyles’ family brings the community together in her name to help support the young athletes of Taylor County.  While last year’s event benefited Taylor County Youth Soccer, this year’s will have all proceeds being donated to the Base Invader Softball program.

“We hope that individuals will join us for this annual event that helps to honor Mandy’s memory while benefiting the youths of the county,” shared organizers.
