KNOTTSVILLE— Golfers are invited to converge at Tygart Lake Public Golf Course Friday, September 10, to enjoy a day on the links, all the while supporting the West Virginia United Methodist Men’s scouting ministries.
The Annual Arnold Eddy Memorial Golf Outing raises funds for the Circuit Rider, which is an annual camporee that typically draws more than 400 scouts and adult leaders to Jackson’s Mill for a weekend of camping and wholesome activities.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the camporee wasn’t able to be held last year or this year, but according to organizers, plans are under way to bring it the event back bigger and even better than ever in 2022 for the 32nd Annual Circuit Rider.
Both the golf outing and Circuit Rider are sponsored by the West Virginia and Mon Valley District United Methodist Men, who consider scouting a ministry.
Registration for the Annual Arnold Eddy Memorial Golf Outing will begin at 8:30 a.m. on the day of the event, with players teeing off at 9:00 a.m.
The cost of registration for a team of four is $200 if completed prior to August 20. After that time, the fee increased to $220, whereas individuals may register for $55, but teams of four are encouraged.
Organizers also noted that this isn’t just for the men either, as women are more than welcome to join in.
Golfer registration will include golf fees, cart, lunch, water and snacks, as well as an Amazing Grace package of mulligans and entry into the event competitions.
The Amazing Grace Package includes, Prevenient Grace, which allows each player to move to the red tees for one hole; Justifying Grace, giving each golfer one do-over, or mulligan; and Sanctifying Grace, which allows each team the opportunity for one “gimme” from anywhere on the green.
In addition to team play, the outing will feature prizes for the winning foursome, plus longest putt, longest drive and closest to the pin prizes.
Registration checks should be made payable to Mon Valley UMM (Activities Fund) and mailed to: Treasurer Don Davis, 1910 Lazzelle Union Road, Maidsville, WV 26541.
And for those who may not be golfers, but would still like to support the event, sponsorship opportunities are available.
