GRAFTON—The Grafton High School volleyball team has finished its 2018 campaign with a sectional loss last week at Frankfort. The girls lost to Petersburg 19-25, 5-25 and 17-25.
The following are game results for the last few games of the season.
10/16 -- The Lady Cats headed to Fairmont to battle the East Fairmont Bees. GHS won the first game 25-16, but lost the next three, 13-15, 18-25 and 10-25.
Payton Shreve led the Cats with three aces, nine kills and three blocks. The remaining aces were recorded by Morgan Harrison (2), Kylie Hess, Hailey Skiles and Aniesa Taylor. The kills were credited to Harrison (5), Taylor (3) and Ashley Harrison (2). The assists were recorded by Rachel Rock (8), Madison Smith (6) and Marti Lantz.
The JV Cats lost to East 17-25 and 11-25.
Kassidy Simmons had two aces and one kill, Laine Rush had one kill, Hailey Pauley had one block and Gracen Purkey had one kill.
10/18 -- The Varsity Cats completed in a quad match at Fairmont Senior. In the first match the Cats lost to Oak Glenn 10-25 and 3-25.
M. Harrison had one block, Taylor had one kill and Katie Scherzinger had one block.
In the second game the Cats lost to Weir 20-25 and 14-25.
Harrison had one ace and one block, Shreve had one ace and one block and Skiles had one kill.
In the final game of the night the Bearcats lost to Fairmont Senior 18-25,24-26 and 25-27.
Harrison had one ace, four kills and three blocks, Shreve had seven aces, one kill and one block, Skiles had three aces and Taylor had one ace and one kill.
10/22 – The Lady Bearcats returned home for their last home contest of the season hosting Buckhannon-Upshur. GHS could not pull out the home victory as they lost 7-25, 13-25 and 9-25.
In the contest Shreve recorded three aces, two kills and two blocks while M. Harrison had two aces, one kill and two blocks. Skiles added one kill, Rachel Rock added two assists, Scherzinger had one block and Sydney Friend had one assist.
The Bearcat JV team lost 10-25 and 7-25. Simmons had one ace, Natalya Wagoner had one block and Ida Reodjoe had two kills.
10/24 – The girls were back on the road and this time at South Harrison. The Cats lost 19-25, 23-25 and 19-25.
In the game Shreve had four aces, six kills and two blocks, M. Harrison had one ace and 10 kills, Taylor had one kill, A. Harrison had one kill, Skiles had two assists and five kills, Scherzinger had one assist and one block, Rachel Rock had five assists and Madison Smith added one ace and five assists.
In the JV game the Bearcats came out on top with scores of 25-22 and 25-18.
Simmons had two aces and one kill while Emily Rock recorded one ace and one assist.
10/25 -- In the next contest the Cats were able to win one game against Lincoln 25-10, but lost the other three 14-25, 20-25 and 15-25.
Shreve recorded two aces, six kills, and five blocks, M. Harrison had two aces, four kills and five blocks, Skiles had four aces, two assists and one kill, Hess gad two aces and one kill, R. Rock had five assists, Scherzinger had two assists and one block, Smith had four assists and A. Harrison two kills and one block.
The JV’s also lost 18-25 and 15-25. Simmons had one ace and one kill, E. Rock had two assists and Roedjoe had one kill.
10/29 – The Lady Bearcats last contest of the season was a sectional loss to Petersburg. The game was played at Frankfort. The Cats lost to the Vikings 19-25, 5-25 and 17-25.
In the sectional game Shreve had one ace, four kills and one block, Skiles had one ace, 3 kills and one block, M. Harrison had two aces and three kills, Taylor had three aces and one kill, Smith had two aces and one assist, Hess had one ace, R. Rock had five assists and Scherzinger added one ace, one kill, one assist and one block.
